Saving Space In A Kid’s Room!

by Lee on January 26, 2012

Kids are messy and you need every little bit of space you can get in their rooms. There are some simple solutions you can use to make the most of the floor space that is so precious. Here are just a few suggestions.

Get a set of  twin over twin bunk beds. Even if you only have one child, bunk beds are an awesome space saving solution. They double the available sleeping space but take up no extra square feet in a room. You may want to go right for a set of adult bunk beds rather than a set sized for kids since those little ones grow a lot faster than you might ever assume. This way you won’t have to buy a new set in just a few years. Buying bunk beds for a kid’s room makes sleep overs very easy because you have an extra bed all set and ready to go.

Make use of combination furniture. If you can get a bed frame that also has storage built into it then you are saving even more space that can be used for additional storage.

Color coordinate everything. If you assign certain colors to certain drawers or cabinets you will encourage your kids to clean up and keep track of everything they have. You can also number drawers or cabinets to encourage organization along with numerical learning.

Install shelves in the closets. Most kids don’t have much for clothing that needs to be hung up so closets often become easy places for clutter to occur. If you fill them with shelving you will reduce the chance of this and further encourage organization.

These are just a few suggestions that can be used to make use of every little bit of space you have available.
