I’ve talked about my favorite show Chuck numerous times on my blog. You can read more about it here. If you haven’t taken some time to watch you should, because it is a really great show. However between season 2 and 3 there was worry we would not have a show renewal. Then fans banned together to create the Subway movement.
It worked like this: Watch Chuck, Eat At Subway, Purchase a $5 Foot long on a special day, Save Chuck. And it worked.
Fans hit the show where they knew it would cause the most impact. Their wallets aka Advertising. Instead of sending peanuts or pencils to the poor guy in the mailing room fans targeted a prominent advertiser. Subway appreciated the attention and helped save our show. Now you can see a Subway sandwich or restaurant in nearly every episode.
So as we move on to Season 4 we are once again playing the waiting game. Will Chuck or won’t Chuck be renewed for another season. The answer may be hidden in the words of show star Adam Baldwin who plays Colonel John Casey.
On April 10th Adam co-hosted the Stage Right show with Larry O’Connor where Baldwin is a regular listener and even chat room visitor. The following conversation took place amongst the hosts:
Baldwin(after commenting about hitting the gym): The goal is to get my shirt off in the next season.
O’Connor: Really, wait a minute next season now what do you mean by that, do you have an official announcement you’d like to make?
Baldwin: Thats not my place I’d never make an official announcement, I’m cautiously optimistic that Chuck will continue on it’s roll, so I’ll just leave it at that.
A few minutes later the following dialogue occured:
O’Connor: I understand you didn’t make an official announcement but to me it sounded like you had an unofficial announcement.
Baldwin: We will certainly know within the next couple of weeks. They have to make an official announcement at the upfronts but word tends to trickle down to the people involved sooner rather than later.
I don’t know about anyone else but these comments leaves me hopeful that I’ll be allowed to enjoy the unraveling of Chuck Bartowski and Sarah Walker’s intimate relationship in Season 4. This makes me really happy. With all the reality shows and hard core police dramas it’s nice to be able to sit back and enjoy a “dramatic romantic comedy” and Chuck has all three.
Obviously we’ll need to wait until May 17th, the Upfront date for NBC in New York City. Upfronts were created so that networks could tell the media, sales and advertising companies about their new seasons schedules.
Until then I’ll continue watching Chuck until the season finale, hoping it isn’t the series finale, with my fingers crossed because we simply won’t know until then.
Tune into Chuck on NBC at 8PM EST. Find a Subway location near you by clicking HERE. The entire show Adam Baldwin hosted can be found here.
