ELF Makeup, aka Eyes Lips Face, is that infamous makeup that sells for only $1 at item. Well, most of the products at least, sometimes they sell for more. However no matter what the price they are always an absolute steal. ELF sent me a free Essential Makeup Collection kit for review and so far I’m thrilled. It has 83 products in the one case. There is no way I’ll ever have the chance to experiment with everything. I have used this make up for both glam and everyday and it has never let me down.
ELF sponsored my trip to the People’s Choice Awards back in January. They sent me a huge box of products most of which I had no idea how to use. Luckily my friend Stephanie of MingleMediaTV knew exactly what to do and helped me out. For this event we went with high fashion glamour. The price of the makeup made me nervous as to whether or not it would last. But by the end of the night I found myself in the Avalon bathroom rubbing the shadow off my eyes and even then it was giving me a fight. We went all out with concealer, foundation, powder, under eye circles coverage and anything else we could get our hands on. The eyeshadow was the most obvious as you can see in the picture below. The colors were deep and rich on my eyes, the facial powders light and airy with staying power and the fake lashes were smoking. That was probably my favorite part.
Last week I had the opportunity to interview actor Adam Baldwin live on my web show. I wanted to be pretty but not glamorous. I was aiming more for a girl next door look, or as I had said on Twitter, a Bella Swan look. This was my first time using ELF on my own for anything other than grocery shopping use. Luckily I had this mega Essential Collection kit. With my feminine spring dress from Dress Barn I wanted something soft. I chose a light brown for all over my lid and a light purple for the bottom. I was then able to use a nice light pink blush and an all over face powder that matched with no problem. I have very oily skin so I didn’t expect the powder to keep me oil free long and although I did encounter some shine, it wasn’t as bad as I had expected.
My only complaint is that the lipsticks in the kit don’t stay on long at all. They might actually be considered glosses which would make sense. They all look beautiful but unfortunately for me, they wore off within a few minutes. I have had to supplement with my own lipsticks when using the Essential Collection kit.
